Review:
This coffee has notes of peaches, apricots, grapefruit and molasses. The roaster mentions honeydew, apricot and candy as the tasting notes. I did feel that the body is a bit melon-y and the balance has a certain sweetness to it as well. This is a very peculiar one in my opinion. If you are anticipating that burnt smoky aftertaste or even the aromatics that resemble a coffee, then you are investing in the wrong product. This coffee is reflective of the third wave i.e. is delicate, complex and needs to be experimented on to find the right balance, mouthfeel and finish. A very personal. Has brilliant aromatics, rich flavours, a good balance, mouthfeel and finish. Overall, a winner.
Balance: Sweet-complex acidity
Complexity: High
Best for: Pourovers
Worst for: Espresso
Pro tips:
Need to approach this coffee with a mindset to find the right balance. It may be off-putting initially but just be patient. Coffee settles in the first 8-10 days and the flavours start coming out eventually.
Use boiling hot water to brew and a medium to fine grind size.
Final verdict: Absolutely recommended. Probably the best of this year.
